CDP-C™ Course

Part A1: Preparatory Study

- A Course Handbook in your choice of either English or Chinese
- UAV Academy Online Student Portal

Once you have enrolled on the course, a Course Handbook will be distributed. It covers all the subjects in the theory side of the course. You will also be given access to the UAV Academy Online Student Portal where you will find additional background reading and a library of past examination questions.

Part A2: Group Theory Class

- Two full-day Group Theory Lectures - Multiple Choice Examination for CDP-C™CERTIFIED DRONE PILOT, COMMERCIAL

The two full-day theory lectures cover the course contents listed below:

• Introduction
• Air Law and Responsibilities Airspace – Operating Principles Aircraft Knowledge
• Human Factors
• Meteorology
• Airmanship and Aviation Safety Planning and Operating Procedures Planning Scenarios
• Theory Examination
• Preparing for your Practical Test

Having a good knowledge in all of these subjects is required by the authorities to ensure safe UAV operations complying with regulations. Students shall pass a 50-question Multiple Choice Examination at the end of the two-day theory class in order to proceed with the course.

Part A3: Operation Manual (OM) Submission and Review

An Operation Manual is crucial for applying a UAV permit from the Civil and Aviation Department (CAD). The coach will explain about the contents for creating the document. A comprehensive template will be given to the students to follow with and students shall submit an Operation Manual that reflects their operation and procedures. The coach will review it and provide feedback and suggestions.

Part A4: Flight Training

A Flight Training session will be arranged with the coach. Practical knowledge and skills of UAV operations essential for the Flight Operations Assessment will be explained. Hands-on experience can be earned during this session.

Part A5: Flight Operations Assessment (FOA)

- Examination to be qualified as a CDP-C™ CERTIFIED DRONE PILOT, COMMERCIAL

Being qualifed as a CDP-C™ CERTIFIED DRONE PILOT, COMMERCIAL allows flight operators to get UAV liability insurance and is crucial for applying a permit from the Civil and Aviation Department.

Everything learnt in Part 1-4 will come together. Students will be given a client brief, with details about the location and the required tasks. Then a demonstration showing the examinor that you are capable to operate, use the proccedures set out in your Operation Manual and perform flying skills according to the rules and regulations by CAD shall be conducted.

Part B: Assistance in Application for CAD Permit

- Guidance to complete CAD Application Forms (DCA 1221, eDCA 255), Flight Plan, Permission Letter from land owner & Insurance Proof

Flight operators will be given guidance before submission of application forms to CAD. The coach will review and provide comments to better secure a successful application. Clients may require Unique Atoms Solutions to source insurance supplier.

Part C: On-site Support

- 12 hours of On-site Support

You will be entitled to 12 hours of on-site support, with minimum of 4-hour session each time. Supervision of flight operations will be provided. On-site support can be used for both aerial photo-taking or photogrammetry acquisition for reality modelling.

*For flight training and Flight Operations Assessment, applicants can use their own UAV devices or aircraft rental can be provided upon request.
